{"id":2407,"date":"2020-10-09T23:38:53","date_gmt":"2020-10-09T23:38:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/firstroboticspr.org\/?p=2407"},"modified":"2020-10-09T23:40:26","modified_gmt":"2020-10-09T23:40:26","slug":"robotigers-1-2-of-academia-san-jose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurekaenrichment.org\/en\/2020\/10\/09\/robotigers-1-2-of-academia-san-jose\/","title":{"rendered":"Robotigers 1 &#038; 2 of Academia San Jose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Christian Ostorga<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a perfect balance of team chemistry and overall talent, Academia San Jos&eacute; rarely disappoints.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This 5-year veteran squad has collected various awards during their time at FIRST LEGO League PR&mdash; including the Robot Performance Award (2015 and 2017), the Programming Award (2016) and the Galletas Bimbo Team Spirit Award (2017).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2017, they represented Puerto Rico at the LEGOLAND California International Open, and in 2018 they were a part of the mission group that researched water activity during the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The success of the team has largely been a result of the dedicated leadership of head coach Nilda Rivas, a 25-year teacher at Academia San Jos&eacute;, with a deftness for technology and mathematics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through Nilda&rsquo;s support, Academia San Jos&eacute; has welcomed FIRST LEGO League on multiple occasions; most recently, hosting two robotics competitions (Zero Robotics&mdash; A Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) competition), over the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team consists of two divisions, Robotigers 1 and Robotigers 2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Robotigers 2 are currently receiving guidance from the Granville Master Builders of Ohio, and Academia San Jos&eacute; will also be a part of FIRST LEGO League JR this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are pleased to have brilliant minds like the Robotigers and Nilda, who have been with us for many years.
